In Panaji, following Independence Day celebrations, opposition leader Yuri Alemao stated that holding talathis accountable for illegal hill cutting is insufficient, pointing out that such violations often involve collaboration with politicians. Alemao emphasized the need for action against politicians complicit in real estate and land alienation issues in Goa. He expressed disappointment in the government's ability to address rampant hill cutting, citing a lack of faith in their integrity. Regarding a recent murder case linked to drug trade, Alemao criticized the Chief Minister for not addressing the opposition's concerns raised during the assembly session about increasing drug activities in Goa. He criticized the prevalence of drugs, gambling, murder, and rape in Goa, suggesting that officials play a role in enabling these crimes despite the public's trust in the police force.
